Day to day

CLASS ARRIVAL and pickup

Students and families are asked to come in thorough the front door of the hall and wait there until their class is starting. Please be courteous and do not disrupt the current class finishing up. Please ensure that your child arrives on time for every class and ensure that your child is in the presence of a teacher when you or the guardian drops them off.

Please ensure that your child is collected on time. Gemz dance academy cannot be responsible for your child’s saftey outside of class time. Children are NOT to play in the foyer or car park. For the safety of our students, staff and visitors, we kindly ask that all those attending the classes park in the allocated parking spots surrounding the dance studio. We also ask that you personally (or a guardian known to staff) pick up and drop off the students.

CLASS BEHAVIOUR

Children should always be courteous and obey instructions. Bad language and behaviour will not be tolerated.

All students are expected to treat their teachers and fellow peers with respect. Gemz has a proud history of a supportive and encouraging environment. Gemz dance does not tolerate defamatory comments, indecent or disrespectful comments from students, parent/guardians, family members or visitors. Any individual who demonstrates any of the above will be asked politely to leave the centre immediately. This behaviour includes within the premises or in the near vicinity of the premises, social media or on the internet. Negative communications between parents and/or students are also not welcome at Gemz Dance.

Gemz dance will not tolerate in person, via email, text messaging or via the internet any of the following, and not limited to: Verbal abuse or shouting, psychological harassment, excluding or isolating a person, humiliating a person (through sarcasm, criticism or insults, ignoring them, belittling them or their contribution) or any other related actions made by students and/or parents/guardians.

FOOD & DRINKS

Food or drinks must not be brought into the studio. It is acceptable to bring water in a suitable bottle. Chewing gum is not permitted within the hall.

SIBLINGS AND DISTRACTIONS

Young siblings are not to venture onto the dance floor at any time. Distractors often affect children other than your own and their ability to concentrate. We do hold events throughout the year where we welcome guests and you will be told of this prior.

STRICTLY NO MOBILE PHONES ALLOWED IN CLASS

There is to be absolutely no mobile phone use by students in the class. This includes breaks in between classes. If phones are brought to class, they must always e kept in bags or handed to the teacher and they will return it at the end of class. If a parent needs to urgently contact a student, please call Miss Gemma directly. Under no circumstances is footage or photos permitted on social media sites which are not officially permitted by Gemz dance academy. Students caught breaking this policy will be required to remove all unauthorised footage/photos and have their parents notified immediately. Gemz dance academy holds the right to expel students with no refund in fees.

These rules have been put in place to provide the best possible service to all children. Gemz dance academy prides itself on the growth and development of all students and sees these rules as a way of protecting your child with a safe and structured environment. Please respect the rights and worth of all students and their families.

Health and safety policy

Gemz have set up and will maintain a safe dance environment for all of our students. Appropriate COVID safe procedures exist and appropriate emergency understanding have been given to all staff. Our dance staff have the responsibility and authority to ensure that health and safety objectives are achieved. All of our staff can identify and eliminate unsafe acts, procedures, conditions, equipment, and hazards of many kinds. Behaviour from students, parents, or visitors that may cause an unsafe environment will not be tolerated. It is the responsibility of the student or parent/guardian to inform Gemz Dance staff of any prior or existing illnesses or injuries prior to the enrolment or prior to the class starting.

In the event of an injury Gemz Dance will administer First Aid treatment by a qualified first aider. If medical services are necessary and an ambulance required, the student/parent/guardian will incur the costs. Please note physical contact may be required as necessary.

Gemz Dance MUST be notified of any allergies that your student may have, we aim to help out and assist where we can. Any student that has been diagnosed by a qualified medical practitioner as being at risk of anaphylaxis should bring an EpiPen to class and leave it with their teacher, labelled with their name. This EpiPen will be administered by a first aider if required, under the instruction of 000 staff if an emergency arises. Similar to allergies, Asthmatics are also required to notify Gemz and provide their teacher with a copy of their asthma plan prior to dance lessons commencing.

Emergency evacuations will be practiced as per state regulations and the appropriate fire hose reels, and fire blankets are located within the premise as per the locations existing fire evacuation programme and signage on site.
